About Us
We are Tilly and
Elinor Fulcher, sisters and seriously hip chicks! At 11 and 9
years old, you might think we're a little young to have our own
business - but believe it or not, we've already been at this a long
time. (Our parents say we came into the world as full-blown
artists and saleswomen!) We started out as toddlers by selling
interesting rocks from our yard. More recently we have sold
drawings to our classmates and created and charged admission to our own
art gallery. We are always interested in learning new things
(especially things we can SELL!) and were really happy when mom said
she'd teach us how to make soap! (In case you didn't already know
- our mom, Jena Fulcher,
is an artist, too! She made soap for years and years as Black
Sheep Soap Company before discovering handmade glass beads.)
Soap-making is lots
of fun and we do a lot of the process ourselves (with Mom or Dad
hanging over our shoulders to make sure we're doing it right):
measuring the oils and water, selecting the fragrances and colors,
filling the mold, cutting and labeling, and more. We aren't
allowed to handle the lye while it's still active (Mom does that) and
we're still learning how to take & edit photographs and work on the
webpage. We will be doing the packing and shipping (with
help, of course) - we're so excited!
We are also making
and selling tie-dye t-shirts! It's so much fun folding the shirts
up, covering them with dye and then unwrapping them to see the amazing
patterns and colors they make!! Tie-dye is also very messy - our
work clothes are almost as colorful as the shirts we make. And
you can't forget to wear gloves either - yuck!
